Group Description
Cooking OSRS is a distinct skill because regardless of an individual’s style, preference, or focus the majority of players will be practicing their cooking at some point during their game. Everybody from Strength purists to utility skills to mining alts require food, and cooking can be a cheap and simple way to learn the skill. The other neat thing about cooking is that it’s among the few skills that’s close to the same in Old School Runescape gameplay and Runescape 3. Additionally cooking is likely to be the most simple skill to learn in both games. In both cases, at least, it’s definitely one of the fastest.
Take a look at the Runescape Cooking Guide for the best methods to train your cooking skill – that’s for Runescape 3 as well as OSRS. If you’re a member, take a look and purchase some cooking equipment before you get started. If you’ve not already checked the Quest Guide* and completed the Cook’s Apprentice quest, take the time to do it prior to starting in the same way, as it allows you to utilize the Lumbridge range, which decreases your burn rate for foods including raw salmon. This guide is written assuming you don’t have enough gold to purchase all of your raw ingredients in one go and we’ll provide a strategy for acquiring these ingredients and earning money from the resultant food. It’s going to involve a portion of fishing be sure to take a reel, a net and feathers. After you’ve done these, you’re all set to begin:
Level 1 to 15: Shrimp and Anchovies
From levels 1 to 15, hang around Lumbridge and cook shrimp and anchovies retrieved on the shores of the River. To reach 15 using this method isn’t difficult in any way, but make sure you’re using the cooking area in the kitchen at Lumbridge Castle as it will increase your level of exp per hour, while reducing the amount of food you use up. You can either sell you anchovies to GP now and get the ingredients for your leveling or should gold be less of an issue in your case and you’re an active member, deposit the anchovies and keep them to make anchovy-based pizzas later. If you’re bored with fishing, visit the chicken coups to the to the north and east lumbridge . You can gather feathers and chicken. Cook the chicken that is raw and use the feathers to fish in the next step (we have said that fishing is beneficial!) Your fishing should level close to parallel with your cooking, so you may have to fish for a bit longer to reach level 20 and move onto the next training method, and then take some time to gather feathers to use as bait for your next stages. If you’re purchasing your own supplies or find powerfishers on the internet, you don’t have to be concerned about this.
Levels 15 through 32: Trout and Salmon
At level 15 (or so) head up to the Barbarian Village and begin cooking trout on the grills next to the powerfishers. With the current trends, you’re most likely to encounter several powerfishing machines which will take all the trout and salmon that you cook in the event that your fishing isn’t up to standards, you don’t need to. However, if you’d like to go fishing yourself, make sure you’ve bought fishing rods and some feathers before you begin. With an inventory of fish and other fish, you’ll be able purchase enough feathers to continue fishing on a regular basis, however, should you ever run out you’ll be able to head to the chicken farms in lumbridge. You can powertrain to drop your food in the food bin or store them on the Grand Exchange if you’ll have an opportunity to use them later. At the age of 32 you’re ready to join the Cooks Guild!
Level 32-55: Cooks Guild
Purchase a Chef’s Hat and visit the Cook’s Guild in Varrock. The Cook’s Guild is where you’ll make apple pies and wine. You can make your own flour by mixing the grain with water to form dough, gather cooking apples, and cook them at the temperature of your choice all within the building’s upper and lower floors. If you want to get a high level you could opt to go world-hopping, but the spawns are quick and won’t change the gameplay significantly. It’s beneficial for the majority of players to save their pie money. When you reach 35, you can start making wine as well by combining the grapes in the guild and water jugs. The grapes spawning times are longer so you’ll only get about 3 per inventory when you’re banking, but they provide considerably more experience for less effort than apple pie.
Level 55+: High-level Fish or Anchovy Pizzas
At this point, you’ve got two options that you can mix and mix and match. The first is to head to Karamja and catch your own fish or cook the top-quality fish released by fishermen who are powerfishers. There’s likely to be a large amount of tuna. However, many bots drop their Swordfish also. It is possible to sell both at a reasonable profit and get a great return when there is a very low burn rate. There is a chance that some of the powerful fishing bots may drop lobsters, as well, so if you see the chance to pick the lobsters and you’re interested, do it.If you’re at the fishing skill to do this that is, lobsters and swordfish will give you the most income per hour. It’s fairly easy to achieve levels 99 simply by cooking the two fish.
The other option will require a bit more of an expenditure, but it’s the most effective way to get a head start on your cooking from here on. If you’ve been selling the food you’ve made so far, you should have a good amount of GP saved up which you could use, in addition to your tuna, swordfish and lobster profits and invest in Pizzas as well as anchovies (hopefully you’ve saved your anchovies from the beginning!) Anchovy pizzas offer the highest return per hour of any choice that cooks have, and they come with an 85% success rate because you need to use anchovies on the pizza in order to make them. We suggest pouring all the gold you can get into pizzas and anchovies and using anchovies from Karamja to offset your profit margin and make more gold when needed. After that, you’ll be easy moving until 99!
